prominent
design feature: The design of the clubhouse, approximately
1,150m2 and the terraces of 4,500m2 needed to allow for dynamic nature of
sporting community use and allow for changing use in the future. The design had
to achieve flexibility of use, and provide a highly functional and efficient
building.
construction
features: The construction method used concrete
pad/strip footings supporting a structural steel frame. Walls generally were brick with blocks
featuring cut faces to external elevations; the roof was clad with
colorbond. Terraces and external paving
mix of coloured concrete and limestone blocks; civil works included extension
of the club access road and sewer.
internal
features: To enable flexibility in use the facility was
divided into two separate buildings, a function room building and a change room
building. The function room building has
two multipurpose rooms that can be used as one large function room to cater for
up to 150 people, served by a commercial kitchen, kiosk and bar. It was important to achieve views from the
function room building onto a number of different sporting fields and allow an
overview of the carpark. The change room
building has two sets of change rooms and showers, an umpires’ room, a first
aid room and store rooms.
