design feature: The additions to the buildings were in
keeping with the existing design, whilst providing fresh new amenities for
staff and visitors. The non denominational chapel is flexible in area and
caters for both large and small gatherings. New office and reception areas have
improved work flow and the reception and casket display areas have provided a
new public face to the facility. Extensive work behind the public façade caters
for the operational issues involved in a funeral home, and includes a new
mortuary with associated cool room facilities, commercial lifting equipment has
been installed in the purpose built garage, allowing a safe and efficient work
environment for staff.
construction
features: The exterior walls of the building have been finished in relief stone
work to match existing elements of the building design. The extensions were
completed in brick work due to the accessibility constraints of the site.
internal
features: The internal design and finishes were
selected to match existing amenities and to present a warm but restrained
environment, in keeping with the use of the facility. The seamless transition
between the existing and new facilities is a credit to the tradesmen involved
in this project.
